About the wine

Telish winery was built in the late 1960’s but was a state-owned monopoly until recently, when it was bought in 1999 by Jair Agopian. His main focus is on producing new and complex quality wines. Telish winery can be considered as a leader of the new image of Bulgarian wines. The wine is named after the ancient Roman fortress CASTRA RUBRA (Red Fort), whose ruins are located near the village Kolarovo. This wine became number one wine in Bulgaria in the competition DiVino. in 2013. Master Winemaker Michel Rolland is the exclusive consultant for this estate. 60% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc

TASTING NOTES

Beautiful, intensive dark red colour with soft garnet nuances. Classy and attractive nose: multi-layered aromas – ripe black berries, mocha café, vanilla, eucalyptus, leather and sweet spices. Lavish, full body with excellent tannic structure and fruity freshness. The finish is long, fresh and balanced. The wine has remarkable aging potential (5-10 years).

FOOD PAIRING

Ideal with roasted meat such as lamb shoulder or beef on BBQ. Delicious also with goat cheese.
